James and Darian’s Elopement at the Red Rock Canyon Overlook in Las Vegas, Nevada

James and Darian’s elopement at Red Rock Canyon Overlook is a testament to the power of love and the beauty of nature. Their decision to embark on this intimate journey in one of Nevada’s most stunning locations allowed them to create lasting memories that will be cherished forever. Red Rock Canyon Overlook, located just a short drive from the Las Vegas Strip, is a natural wonder that captivates visitors with its striking rock formations and vibrant desert landscape. We sat down with James and Darian to hear their love story and learn more about their elopement at Red Rock Canyon Overlook.

WHAT WORDS WOULD YOU USE TO DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING?

Intimate, unique, personal, and PERFECT!

THE PROPOSAL:

I (Darian) love to ice skate. Im not an expert yet but its such a fun hobby for me. James took me to a local shopping center that has an ice rink around the holidays. I thought we were there to go shopping but he insisted we ice skate. I thought this was strange because James does not like to ice skate. Of course I took that opportunity and we went ice skating. James is not very good at ice skating so he’s pretty unstable on the ice. He fell on the ice and asked me to come help him up and when I got to him he pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. I genuinely had no clue he was even thinking about proposing so I freaked out and said yes at least 15 times. The entire shopping center clapped and cheered and it was truly magical. We went afterwards and celebrated with our families.

THE VISION:

James and I knew we wanted a unique experience for our wedding with stunning views for our wedding photos. We considered a traditional wedding but just didn’t feel giddy and excited about something traditional. We loved the idea of mountains but still wanted something accessible that required minimal hiking in a wedding dress. I also knew that I wanted a fall wedding, its my favorite time of year and the moody colors of fall just make my heart happy. So our overall goal was something unique with incredible views and a moody and intimate feel to the ceremony. And of course, a great time for our loved ones.

THE PLANNING PROCESS:

The planning process was so easy, I looked into planning a traditional wedding and was so overwhelmed-none of it seemed fun at all. Epic Elopement made the process so easy. I saw and IG post of an elopement in Red Rock Canyon and was sold immediately! I reached out and was blown away by how much they include in their elopement packages and how customizable they are so you get exactly what you want. They book all of your vendors for you and are so open to any ideas you have. After we booked, they sent us detailed questionnaires and asked for inspiration pictures of my vision and they executed perfectly. My bouquet literally looked exactly like the photos I sent! They were super accessible for questions during the process and sent us all the final details before the wedding. It was so wonderful to show up to our ceremony and everything be done and to have a coordinator on site helping coordinate the vendors and our guests.

YOUR OUTFITS AND ACCESSORIES

I was dead set on having my dream wedding dress even though we were having an elopement style wedding. My wedding dress was a fitted Martina Liana with an incredible train and I knew it was going to look incredible in pictures. James wore a black suit to fit the moody vibes of the ceremony from the Black Tux. I was fortunate enough to wear two items from my grandmother and James grandmother as my something borrowed, blue, old and new. I wore on my right hand a ring from James grandmother that included a blue stone in the center. I borrowed this from his mom actually so it covered borrowed, old and blue. My grandmother gifted me an anklet that she used to wear all the time and she had it customized to include a small gold slot machine to commemorate our Vegas wedding weekend as my something new. My earrings were from Olive and Piper, my wedding heels were Badgley Mischka from Anthropologie, and I also customized myself a pair of white Vans that were completely covered in pearls.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS

The most memorable moment was walking down the aisle and seeing James reaction when he turned around and saw me for the first time. He would agree that seeing me for the first time in my wedding dress was his favorite part. The views were also so incredible and memorable. We were so zoned in during the ceremony that we didn’t immediately look around but once we had a chance to look behind us we were truly stunned. Red Rock Canyon is the most incredible backdrop for a wedding!
